Panchayat Council leader ostracized due to caste status.
Sangeetha, a strong-willed Panchayat council leader, finds extreme hardships while fulfilling her responsibilities as a public servant. She is shattered by the words of her colleagues, a group of caste hindus, who discriminate her, on the grounds that she is a Irular woman.
To seek justice for the insults and disservice against her, she had approached the Senji Police station. However, there was no action taken on the parties who had caused the offence, which include, the Vice President and the ward members of the Panchayat Council. The offenders include – Chithra, Gunasekaran, Sudha and Saravanan. Their vulgar words spread extreme hatred and demean her livelihood and life to nothing. Her years of work have been reduced to nothing, while she is called a poor shepherd and ostracized out of her own workspace. She is not allowed to perform her duties in administration, sit on the chairs, discuss matters of work with other members or use her own power and authority granted by her work, for good.
She is supported by Ambedkar’s teachings and believes that the reservation system brings equity and social justice, while allowing people to serve the society in a just and proper manner. Her dreams of providing a playground, canals, water drainage system, water facilities, proper roads and a graveyard keep her motivated to continue the work she does, all while fighting for her rights.
