Authentic music beyond boundaries.
The Rap-based band from Bangalore, consist of the multi-talented beatboxers, lyricists and rappers – Adipetti, Sam and Tony. 8C which represents “Infinity Culture”, weave their songs with stories of discrimination based on caste and classism.
Adipetti, has an experience of 12 years in music, being a senior to Sam and Tony, has been a mentor to them in their journey of conveying their stories through music. Born and raised in their “gully”, they’ve invented a high-level studio in the same place, with they possess at hand, including a pillow, bedsheets and pencil.
They discuss how they find recognition in the environment they call their own, when the students of the nearby school are inspired of their music. Issues of land ownership, casteism, atheism, history, politics and revolution are actively discussed in their music. Finding inspiration from western artists like 50 Cent, Tupac and Michael Jackson, who have risen above all odds and conveyed messages in a striking way through their art, the group yearns to do the same. They explain how artforms like beatboxing have risen through poverty, reflecting on their own life and sharing knowledge in music.
The group considers their songs as a way of preaching and communicating it to the people. Being independent artists, they struggle to keep their message intact, but rise above it to maintain authenticity and put their ideas through, without sugar-coating it. They are paving a unique way for themselves as individual artists who put forth powerful messages through music.
