In the land of Kilakku Maruthur, comes an ox adorned with headpieces and shawls. Besides the ox, walks a young man who guides the it from door to door, carrying out the job over generations.
They are a family of numerous people with varied dreams. However, they were denied job opportunities on the basis of their work status and the caste they belong to. They include a government college graduate who was promised a job, made arrangements for working abroad and later deceived; a teacher trainee pass-out, who’s job was given to someone else, and a 12th pass out who is in the process of learning the craft pf tailoring.
They were victims of discrimination while in schools, until it was resolved by a police officer named Ambedkar, who advised and taught the other villagers to treat people equally. Their home, is built on a small piece of land that was secured with the help of a villager named Manikandan. However, their registration documents have not been handed out to them and are delayed beyond measure. They have approached the Kallakurichi Collector’s office for aid as well.
He tells how people don’t value him and tell that he has come for alms, but under the company of the ox, is treated as god’s own and provided money. People in the village has teased, pelted stones and even forcefully tried to take the ox away from him saying that it represents their deity and he belongs to a lower caste, without considering that it is his only source of livelihood.
His only way of rejoicing life is recalling his days in college and school. His dreams of being a police officer has gone in vain due to his familial lifestyle and lack of support from the society.
He expects a stable home to live in, quality education and job opportunities to aid his life and those around him.
